Penny Pinching over Cancer Jab

From The Scotsman,
Ministers 'penny-pinching' over cancer

Published Date: 24 October 2008 DOCTORS would give their children a different vaccine to protect against cervical cancer than the one that was chosen for the national programme, the GP and broadcaster Phil Hammond said yesterday. He accused the government of "penny-pinching" after it chose a jab that, he said, did not offer as much protection as a more expensive alternative. Ministers awarded the contract to GlaxoSmithKline for its Cervarix jab over the more expensive Gardasi. But Dr Hammond said Cervarix was not as effective, and every doctor to whom he had spoken had chosen Gardasil for their children.

Jab in the papers tomorrow

I guess the stories of a number of families have hit the news this week and the story has gone quite viral. The newspapers are responding tomorrow. We have had daily calls during the week and it seems like there is some progress. Tomorrow will be interesting.

For those of you following our story about the coerced jabbing of our daughter with an HPV immunization shot, tomorrow in the Sunday papers around the country there will be an official apology from the health department and hopefully some practical steps to ensure our story, and those of a few other families around the UK, will not be repeated. Good!

Jab

We are hoping they will take the  immunizations out of the schools - where the school authorities really don't know what the heck is going on anyway, and give the authority back to the family physicians - which is what usually happens with immunisations. We set up a small blog to track the progress - Its called the Jab Blog

More tomorrow along with links [hopefully] to the papers. We really hope everyone is fairly treated in the media. We hope that the truth emerges. And we hope that we can all be part of making healthy decisions for our children.
