Help the Poor

I was wondering what you all were doing today? Are other countries talking about the events coming up in Edinburgh today and in the coming weeks all over the world or is it just a big deal here in the U.K.?

There are lots of options all over Orkney today. One friend has opened her house to prayer for the Poor of the world today. Other friends will be projecting the Edinburgh concerts tonight. There will be a concert in Kirkwall with 10 bands and at 2 there will be a peaceful protest march.

I talked to the kids about the poor of the world and what was being discussed. We came up with our "motto" for our banner, we decided on "Help the Poor" instead of "Feed the Poor" because we want to more than feed them. Samuel provided the broomsticks to hold up the banner. First he came in with pitchforks. "Samuel, it isn't that kind of march!" We cant do all the events but it should be good what we do.

My Kids are rock stars

Something special about music in the house. I have always yearned for my kids to show musical interest. Not just by listening but creating.

Because of our semi-nomadic lifestyle musical instrument possibilities have been quite eclectic, sometimes being limited to a harmonica and a pot to bang on. It is also normal for the parents to show some kind of musical gifting other than the ability to mechanically read notes from the page for the kids to excel in music but we have a merciful God who doesn't demand perfection from us in order to bless us. YEAH!

So, our front room is now strewn with a somewhat bizarre assortment of instruments and seemingly endless pieces of paper with "tabs" that have been downloaded off the internet.

I was sort of hoping for a more folk music bent but electric guitars are fine too.

Both Samuel and Elizabeth did their first public performance in "rock bands" this week. Elizabeth played "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" on electric guitar in a special after school performance that we were invited to. Not to mention pampered with a warm greeting, a choice of soft drink and nibblies affectionately placed on the table in front of us.

Samuel, on the other hand, was in the "Battle of the Bands" on the last day of school and sang "Smells like Teen Spirit" and we as parents WERE NOT INVITED and only after careful interrogation were informed of minimal details. Teenagers. Hmmmm. Anyway, we are very proud parents.

Feeling Blessed

Got a text from Cindy, who is in Romania right now with a request for prayer. Got to sit down and pray for her with my girls and know how to pray for her now.

Got a phonecall from Another friend and got to talk through a difficult situation she is confronted with just because some around her yearn for what she has in her marriage and the enemy is using it to attempt to destroy.

Being with those of such a high caliber that are with DAWN last week. Funny those of real influence and spiritual maturity don't need to be trying to prove themselves all the time and can be such an ease to be around.

And Shannon, what an incredible woman she is. Once again I am in awe of her amazing wisdom and her way of listening on so many levels and in so many realms seamlessly and seemingly with ease. Not to mention having her here is another great excuse to celebrate with chocolate fondue. Something really great about a communal pot and what could be better than a communal pot of chocolate and a platter full of fresh fruit.

Great to see our local family getting to know our global family. Didnt realize how far away I was feeling from our global family. Feeling quite connected right now.
