Richard Dawkins: More response to the New Atheism

In London a few days ago I read a great response to Dawkin's new atheism by Alister McGrath. Worth a read.

"I have known Dawkins for more than 20 years; we are both Oxford professors. I believe if anyone is "immune to argument" it is him. He comes across as a dogmatic, aggressive propagandist." Alister McGrath, 'Do Stop Behaving as if you were God, Professor Dawkins', Daily Mail.

As far as I know, Alister McGrath might be a dogmatic propagandist himself.

Sorry, that wasn't very nice.

I guess I'm still irritated about comments I read of his last summer about atheists. I hate when Christians gloat about "atheists need faith just as much as we do!"

Andrew, you and McGrath seem to assume the existence of Dawkins, yet it has been asked whether or not Dawkins does, in fact, exist:

Just read Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennet, and E.O. Wilson (whom is fascinating to me). For some good responses I've enjoyed Alister McGrath BUT got to speak at a meeting with Francis Collins who wrote The Language of God - a must read on all this. He's the guy who was the head of the human genome project. Brilliant brilliant book and a fresh prespective also on how Christians sometimes complicate it all

Thanks Andrew.

Not because I'm a big apologetics buff, but because I see a major challenge to the church in the next few years is having to learn how to communicate to the rise in militant, dogmatic Atheism.
Their influence is increasing exponentially everyday to the average person. I.E. the god that wasn't there DVD, the rational response crew, the blasphemy challenge...

My question is how do we prepare the church for this..?

There is also a post over at the resurgence website with another response to Dawkins...

Actually the other post at resurgece is the same. Just the video version. My bad.

We shouldn't be surprised or judgmental of Dawkins acting as though he were god when Christians regularly do the same. That's been the temptation Satan has used quite successfully with us from the beginning; why would it surprise us now?
