Happy birthday to my Mum! Today she turns . . . well, who's counting? This is her and Brian - there were married about 11 years ago and are very happily living in Perth, West Australia. Did I tell you my Mum is a painter?

Well, I finally splurged and bought a used PS2. There was some Christmas money given to us, and some birthday money that was on hold until we were on our feet again in London. And then we found this Silver Edition PS2 at Cash Converters for 95 pounds. And now we have a Playstation.
We have The Matrix game but i haven't had the chance to play it yet. The kids are really happy with it. Its a good substitute for TV - we aren't getting television. We don't have cable or satellite, and our TV doesn't pick up British television.

My word for the day from Tommy Boy.
". . . it is well for you to apply yourself to humble, outward works and to refresh yourself in good deeds, to await with unshaken confidence My heavenly visitation, patiently to bear your exile and dryness of mind until you are again visited by Me and freed of all anxieties. For I will cause you to forget your labors and to enjoy inward quiet. I will spread before you the open fields of the Scriptures, so that with an open heart you may begin to advance in the way of My commandments."

"There is no one who is Purpose Driven™,
no one who asks, 'What Would Jesus Do?™"
Quote from The Americanized Bible Version.
Thanks Marc for the link. The Liquid Thinking folks who want you to know that the "20 Days of Purpose Baseball shirts" were just a joke - so don't order any.

I am signing off for the weekend. I have friends over (Brian O'Connell) and am getting ready to make some pizza and have a good weekend. Yes, i am going to the prayer meeting with 17,000 people on Saturday. Nothing going on my blog this weekend - see you next monday.
In the meantime, i want to leave this piece called A Storm (below) up on my blog over the weekend. I am working on some creative writing from Luke 8-10 as a base for my narrative missiology. I hope to add navigation to it later and images, etc. but for now, it exists as some poetic outbursts that will go into my book that will be released quite soon.

sTorm (By Andrew Jones)
Water filling boat
we will arrive wet
seeking pity and a dry house
sTorm came out of nowhere
in the time between times
the space between spaces
where we are most
v u l n e r a b l e
the watery space
between the shores
where no one is witness
Lets go to the other side
what a stupid idea
didnt he read
the clouds?

After appearances in churches around the world, the multi-media labyrinth comes home to Ealing where it was created. I was in london April 2000, immediately after the Grace community had released it in England, and I invited them over to USA. Steve Collins brought the labyrinth over to our Epicenter 2001 event in Austin, Texas and introduced it the Americans and the Internationals who were there. His photos were posted on smallfire.org.
Speaking of Epicenter 2001, which was best described by Amy, I want everyone to know that the rumor of a similar event here in London at the end of this summer is exactly just that - a rumor. No announcement has been made for a Global Emerging Church Roundtable or an accompanying interactive worship event to follow in our tradition of Epicenter 2001 (USA) and Epicentrum 2002 (Prague). Anyway, the name Epicentre, which would be most appropriate for such an event, if indeed there was such an event, is already used by a church here in UK so using it for Epicentre 2004 (London) would be most rude. And besides that, finding a date when all the right people can be here (before or after Greenbelt?) is an almost impossible feat - which i know firsthand. But if we could pull it off . . .
Anyway - where was I . . . yes . . the Labyrinth details. A flash version was also produced for the internet - (link should work again soon).
[UPDATE 11.21AM Jonny Baker just gave me the Official Labyrinth Link - www.labyrinth.org.uk (which is likely to work shortly - DONT YOU JUST LOVE LONDON????????). Jonny suggests going there by this unofficial link instead, which is working right now]
