The Grilling of Brian McLaren
On May 9, Brian McLaren, a leader within Emergent Village and identified strongly with the emerging church, has agreed to come on this blog to answer some questions about hell and his controversial book, The Last Word and The Word After That: A Tale of Fatih, Doubt, and a new Kind of Christianity. You can ask Brian your questions and he will be answering throughout the day. I may also interview him at Suddenly Seminary.
Some blogs that are picking up the conversation about Brian and hell are Theocentric and Theologica Who else is talking about it? Links please . . .
Update: Jason has links to preview chapter.
Brian will be appearing on some other blogs that week as part of a blog tour for his book.

it doesn't really rise to the level of high-minded debate, but for a quick laugh (or a quick look of bewilderment, either way) check out the Addison Road blog.

Do you say the "he's not a heretic" part in a Monty Pythonesque falsetto?

Cool deal. My friend Bryan has read the book and been thinking and blogging about some of the "hellish" content here and here. Check him out.

Oh goodie ... perhaps he can tell me why he's been so terse with me when I realized he was the same Brian McLaren who used to host a home church in my neighborhood back in 1978-79?
I mean, I know people change - including young idiots like myself who've grown out of youthful exuberance .

Andrew,
Thanks for agreeing to participate in McLaren's blog tour. The excerpt we're using for the tour is, I think, much more conducive to a conversation about hell than the one Jason refers to. In it, McLaren discusses his motives and methods. You'll find it at:

Andrew, what is _up_ with that image? I don't know whether to be amused, or very afraid at this peek inside KiwiMind.
