The party took place on Saturday night at a Portland community house of Evergreen. About 30-40 people were there. We came late but there was enough time to cook some pizzas.
We were presented with a cake that said "Yeah Jones Visas"

Bob Hyatt (right), who pulled this gathering together, was saying that the word "Emerging Church" doesn't work anymore. He likes the word "Organic" as an alternative. I also like organic, especially as it relates to local resourcing, but I think that word also has a short shelf life. But I can understand the tension of a name that is much broader than what most people think.You can read Bob's thoughts on the subject here at Next-Wave and more specifically here on his blog.
Great to see Tim (DJ Cloudburst) and Xea Westcott. They hung with us in Prague for some time and also travelled with us in USA 6 years ago when they were part of the Found Kids. They have a baby now and are settling in to the Porltand scene as part of the Summit Fellowship of house churches. This photo was taken when we asked Tim to DJ our church service in Prague using cheap technology - so he used a Gameboy instead of turntables. Xea is a spectacular photographer.
Aaron Ogle and Justin Baeder came down from Seattle. They run the Radical Congruency blog and they had this crazy idea for a new experiment called Early Disciple Phone Tag. . . so crazy . . . it might just work!
Adele Sakler (existentialpunk, Richmond, VA) turned up. She has been helping our journey behind the scenes by deleting my offensive comment spam when we are on the road and away from WiFi. Thanks Adele.
